Article: Sunset Paintings, more like the fact that the sun is setting on the import market. Is it me or trying to find an honest supplier is like looking for a virgin in a cat ho use. It must be the money, the commissions or just the sheer profits. I have been lied to like you cannot believe...is it me? Guess where my suppliers are from....well without branding a whole nations as liars I will have to say, thanks to the freedom of the press that we experience in the UK, their from CHINA. Out and Out liars. The first supplier sold me complete rubbish and it was to expensive too simply return it. The second guy was just an employee and claimed to own the business. Why do I care, well I do. I don't want to be lied to. I want to buy from someone I trust and at the moment I'm struggling with Chinese suppliers. If you want to import paintings beware, beeeeeware. I don't know what else to say. The prices are good but the service sucks and the quality control often non existent. I am so disappointed with the lies and deceit that I am looking for new suppliers. Not a bad thing to keep you on your toes in business and bring in new products. On the upside I might get some keener pricing which means I can pass on the savings on to our customers which has to be a good thing. The real downside or as I refer to it as "the ugly" has to be the quality issues related to importing. How on earth do you deal with the quality control? Well you rely on the supplier to deal with that. Hang on haven't I just said that I have trust issues with Chinese suppliers and to be fair I've also had equally bad experience with Indian suppliers. Before anyone says buy elsewhere. I don't really know the answer as they require payment upfront you can't withhold money. Possibly escrow is the answer but I guess that won't go down too well with exporters selling for profit without a care about service. So is the sun setting on the overseas suppliers, probably not. Many of the suppliers are trustworthy it's just a matter of finding them. This is a task in itself, where to start? Well I guess you have gone to your search engine and typed in oil paintings exporters, wholesale paintings, cheap Chinese paintings etc. I guess that you have come across alibaba. This should come with a health warning as it will do your head in looking through all the wanna bee chancers. They have gold awards and 2nd year etc. etc. SO WHAT. Your on your own if anything happens so do your own checks and take up references from real companies if possible not your direct competitors. Find a good company ideally that speaks the same language as you and ask them what they think about the supplier. It should all be OK or they wouldn't have give them as a reference. Either way do some checks and fingers crossed you might get away with it.
